RESOLUTION
OF THE VERKHOVNA RADA OF UKRAINE
On Ukraine´s accession to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)
In accordance with the Constitution of Ukraine, pursuant to which the people are the bearers of sovereignty and the only source of power in Ukraine; taking into account positions of the political parties, and requirements of Ukrainian legislation in the field of national security, The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine declares:
1. The resolution regarding international agreement on Ukraine´s accession to the NATO is to be adopted only by the results of the national referendum, held on public initiative according to the Law of Ukraine "On National Referendum".
2. The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is to inform the NATO Secretary General of the said resolution of Ukrainian Parliament.
3. This Resolution becomes effective on the day of its adoption.
